【Action status】
With a policy of "enrichment of the consultation system in order to enhance the countermeasures against harassment/mental health, and the continuous enlightenment activities on students and teaching staff," the university is actively working on the prevention of harassments. Key activities are:
Established an organization "Counseling & Harassment Countermeasures WG" within the Education Promotion Office for surveying the status and reviewing countermeasures.
Installed a position "Vice President (Human Rights)" on December 1, 2010 in charge of investigations of harassment pleas.
Director of Student Services Center made a plea in the Directors Meeting in 2011 for improving the on-going practice of holding students for long hours in labs. Counselors and others made related lectures based on the requests of university-wide FD and various departments.
【On action statuses (response policies) to individual pleas】
1) Periodical status survey
Will carefully review cases
2)Enhancing public relations of counseling window
The web site of the counseling window was completely updated in 2019, and the related leaflets were sent out to each lab to be distributed to all students and teaching staff members of the lab. The guide to the counseling window is uploaded on the Information for Enrolled Students of the Tokyo Tech's home page (http://www.titech.ac.jp/enrolled/index.html)as well as on the Campus Guidebook (distributed to all new students starting in 2011).
3) On the introduction of a system that makes it easier to report a complaint
We intend to solve the problem by carefully listening to the affected person and other persons involved We will continue to find a better way to lower the psychological hurdles the victimized person may have so that the person can consult with us more easily.
4) On the definition of harassment to students and enlightenment on the method of countermeasure
We are planning to have training sessions for enlightening students and teaching staff on this matter.
The prevention of harassments is an issue that requires a continuous effort, and we will continue to strive to find a more effective countermeasure taking into account the students' proposal shown here.
An email address for addressing complaints for the eyes of the Dean only was introduced two years ago and it is available for the public to use.
